The new 2025 Audi SQ5 proves to be a competent daily driver with an edge, perfect for spirited runs on high-speed highways.
The 2025 Audi SQ5 (and the mainstream Q5) debuted late last year bearing a host of updates, inside and out. The Q5 remains Audi’s best-selling model in the U.S., as has been the case for some time, which makes these tweaks all the more important for that particular market – not to mention others in which it’s sold. As for those of us that call ourselves enthusiasts, well, we’re obviously most interested in the SQ5, which gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter mill making 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque – perfect for Germany’s famous Autobahn, which is precisely where AutoTopNL took one recently.
In this video, the new 2025 Audi SQ5 is the latest vehicle that the Germany-based YouTube channel gets to test out and go for a high-speed spin in, and as one might imagine, it impresses in that regard. Our host notes that the newest SQ5 isn’t “mega fast,” but adds that it’s “fast enough,” and “super aggressive” – which only ups the fun quotient. This particular example is a looker as well, with stunning blue paint and gloss black trim that’s available as an option.
Much of the aggression that the 2025 Audi SQ5 has to offer can be attributed to its launch control feature aided by the SUV’s e-assist, and it’s pretty quick, to boot – taking around 4.5 seconds to reach 62 mph. Inside, our host is a fan of the seats, but doesn’t like a few things about the updated SQ5 interior – namely, the new control panel for the lights and mirrors, the door handle design, and the flat top/bottom steering wheel. Throw in three screens, and things can get a bit confusing as well.
Out on the road, there is another grievance our host finds – the revs stay high momentarily after he releases the throttle, which he finds annoying. On the bright side, the air suspension makes for a supremely comfortable ride, and handling is excellent, to boot. Brake pedal feel is a bit mushy, however, but the engine sounds quite nice. Ultimately, our host points out that the 2025 Audi SQ5 nails its intended purpose – it’s a comfy daily driver that has some edge to it, which is perfect for those that want to be able to use it all the time, and yet, also cut loose when they feel like doing so.
